Appreciating life

Today is my birthday and I’m feeling really grateful and happy, even though things aren’t going completely as planned today.  The wee Bun is still running a temp and so we won’t be going out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants tonight.  Instead, I’ll pick up some pizza from our favorite pizza place and pick up a pie for dessert (it’s Pi Day after all).  Oh, and I’m going to take a little ‘me’ time after work to shop at Old Navy and see if my favorite very very soft t-shirts are available.

I started the day in a really good mood, even though my eldest tried to whine me out of my lunch of steak dinner leftovers.  Roxy helped distract me from those early frustrations by being super sexy on the webcam this morning.  Later she treated me to some fabulous sexy photos, which went a long way toward helping me deal with the frustrations of the day. She also wrote a sweet happy birthday post for me.

My job also tried to ruin my day.  Work has been crappy and ridiculous with things breaking in ways they shouldn’t.   And still, I’m smiling, for a very good reason.  A beautiful bouquet of flowers were delivered to me at work today.  The culprit?  It is the one and only Roxy the fabulous, who knows how much I love gorgeous scented Oriental Lilies.  I can’t even remember the last time I’ve gotten flowers at work.  I took a picture of the grin on my face after I carried them down from the reception desk, and it looks like my face is gonna split apart and my eyes are squinted into slits.  This flower surprise follows the one I got yesterday when my wife brought flowers home for me.  I love that both of these women recognize that I love flowers.. and, in answer to unnamed individuals who do not think guys like flowers:  I do!  And I’m not the only one!

Though there are plenty of little, niggling gripes today, I am for the most part feeling very fortunate and grateful today.  I have a lot of love in my life and a lot of great things going my way.  I received t0ns of wonderful birthday wishes today and many indications of the love and friendship I’m privileged to receive from many, many people.
