This summer is brought to you by camps and lack of sleep, with a garnish of warm evenings and parties, with the promise of a warm, sandy vacation. Â ElderSpawn was camping last week with my sister’s family, the fundamentalists who my wife and I don’t visit because we wouldn’t be able to sleep in the same room together. Â We send our Spawn to infiltrate them with her healthy attitudes and lack of abnormality due to having queer parents.
On Wednesday, we all fly out for Florida (Space Coast, here we come). Â Our flight is at 6 am, which by any standard is an obscenely early time to be somewhere. Â It means we’ll be leaving the house at 3 or 4 am. Â That’s an ugly time for me usually. Â Mrs. Kyle will stay up and I’ll try to get 3 or 4 hours of sleep. Â More sleeping on the plane, hopefully, and then the very welcome warmth and sunlight of Florida.
Vacation time is a blessing and a curse. Â I desperately need to get away from work for a while and recharge my batteries. Â I am very much looking forward to the laid back schedule, the sun, the pool at my in-laws house the nearby beach. Â I’m looking forward to spending unhurried time with my offspring.
I’m not looking forward to being out of contact with Roxy. Â My online time will be very limited and I will be skinned and hung out to dry next to a ‘gator infested canal if I spend too much time on my iPhone. Â Roxy is supportive of my need for vacation, but we’re both mourning the separation, as well. Â It’s going to be hard not to talk to her each day, share the mornings and days with her. Â We’ll do what we can, but it’s going to be tough. Â I’m going to miss her like crazy. Â I’m trying to remind myself how excellent to virtually reunite with her when I get back. Â Roxy, I love you baby.
This also means my twitter peeps won’t see much of me, either. Â I may tweet a few taunting pictures from the beach or poolside. Â I’m going to have some posts scheduled in advance, so be watching for those. Â I promise to come back energized and ready to entertain and inform, hopefully with enthusiasm, once again.
Enjoy your week, have fun and relax… I’ll catch up with you later.
