simple pleasures

I enjoy some simple pleasures

a quiet morning with coffee and the newspaper

putting on a soft t-shirt

listening to Jack Johnson’s warm beat

while working in the cold

working up a sweat

the satisfaction of a job well done

the way my baby’s face lights up when I come home from work

the trill of the cat greeting me from his sunny corner

the feeling of my wife’s hand in mine

the way my jeans feel when I’m packing

the music of my lover’s laughter

that final wipe of the kitchen counter

the freckles on my daughter’s face that are an echo of my own

taking words out of my head and putting them down on the page

the warm comfort of my bed

slipping to sleep

knowing when I wake

my loves will be waiting for me

:) These are lovely images. They speak of a life well-lived and well-loved. I like the way you’re able to enjoy and appreciate the moments you’re given, rather than run through them, too fast to take it all in.

You’re rich, love, with happiness. And that’s a beautiful thing.

Simple pleasures are the most enjoyable sometimes. I can relate with some of the same, I love putting on clothes fresh out of the dryer on a cold day, mm…
